Title: USB Laptop Clip Light, Cap Light, Reading Light

Item Resource Page: Dorcy-5LEDLAPTOPLIGHT

Pros: - Very bright
- Can clip it to all sorts of things
- Uses standard USB power
- Retractable USB Cable w/button to retract on unit
- Small standard type-A USB connector that retracts into unit
- Small
- Can angle it many different ways through roughly 200 degrees
- Cheap (@ $5 CAD anyway)
- Not picky about USB power source, worked in all adapters, emergency/portable chargers and plugs I've tried so far
- Low power requirements, < 200 mA
- No internal batteries to wear down or have to replace

Cons: - No power button
- Needs USB power without an option for another power source
- Retract button sets off powerful retraction motion which is good - however it is very easy to hit the button by mistake which isn't so good...

Price Paid: $5 CAD

Overall Rating: 7/10

Other Info: Small and clips all over, I got it as the Circuit Breaker deal of the day @ The Source on April 13 09 for $4.99 (~50% off from regular $9.99 price).

Using it now to help counter the glare from the sun from the window behind me which is still bright enough to see gor general tasks but not quite bright enough to use on my desk. With this device I can use the computer comfortably without needing to turn on the lamp/ceiling light yet.

The only disadvantage for using this as a general clip on anywhere light is that it needs external USB power - but you can get that from a number of sources, including a solar battery or pocket USB power source.

Other things of note from my use of it, the length of the cord is just enough to reach my side USB ports without getting in the way, and more than adequate to reach my back ports. You could also use a USB extension cable with it if needed. It does get a bit warm after prolonged use. Not hot really but definitely warm to the touch on the casing directly behind the lights.

To use to read a book or something in the dark the easiest way is to clip it to something above you (in a tent you can clip to gear loft for example) - or you can clip it to your shirt. It stays clipped quite well where it's placed - it isn't tall enough to be an effective traditional type book light though, unless you clip it to each page and move it as you go along - which isn't ideal.
