As a starter Camera the SD750 was great - I'd never had anything beyond some old 35mm cameras before it. This camera was digital, let me get a bit of zoom, well 3x at least - and it beat my only other cameras (my cell phones ) by a longshot.

I've graduated from that though now - from beginner to... slightly-less-noob-beginner - after 2+ years using that I've now got a DSLR .

There is a huge difference between SD750 and Canon Rebel XT (350D) with the new Stock 18-55 IS lens - the zoom even with this little lens is better, sharper, clearer - the SD750 flash is a joke compared to the Rebel. I never liked using flash before, and my only experience with it was the SD750. It would take forever to charge and the picture would come out looking worse 90% of the time. Now I know how it was supposed to work - and it works on the DSLR . Now I know there should be a huge difference between these, but I'm still suprised how much of a difference there is. The DSLR takes a wider field of view (and this is without a Wide Angle Lens!), and flash or no the pics are so much better. The IS is icing on the cake for the Rebel - and from all my tests its definitely a worthwhile thing to get, no matter what type of photography you get. Unless you use a tripod, it can make a huge difference.

True the SD750 can take videos and the Rebel XT can't - and for that I will keep it around (until I get a DSLR that can ) - and the SD750 is pocket sized and the Rebel XT with kit lens isn't - but despite the huge difference in scale it's very much worth it to carry around the Rebel .

Expect reviews of the body, the lenses, and everything I try with this cam to come up soon ($4 remote, SDHC-CF converter both in the mail), along with comparison photos. Finally over the flu - I'm back
