YP-T8 Mystery

Heyo! Great site! ^^

But I did have one question.. Lately I've been doing more and more recording off FM radio (mainly talkshows and the such).. Default MP3 bitrate was 64Kbps, which is pretty bad even by talkshow terms.. I sifted through the settings and could not find a way to turn this setting up. I checked the manual and there was nothing on it.

Now the strange thing is- the manual has a image of the unit recording from FM radio, and on the screen it says it's recording at 128Kbps.

Am I completely missing something in the settings?
Or did the ability to change FM record bitrate not make the final model? The manual test was changed/removed, but nobody actully revised the pictures perhaps?

Whoa, that is odd. What firmware version are you using? My YP-55X has the ability to change the bitrate settings on FM recordings, as does a friend's T6 along with many other of the Samsung players I have heard about/used. The only thing you couldn't adjust the bitrate setting on was Voice Recording.

Okay, I figured it out- the Note portion of my manual is missing enough ink to read. Defective manual >.<;

However it still leaves me to question why the pictured screen to the right is recording at 128kbps...

To reply to your not being abled to change voice recording bitrates: Oddly enough, under settings there is the "bitrate" setting option. This changes recording bitrates for both voice recording and recording from a inputted external device.

Here's a image I captured of the PDF'ed version of the manual that includes the image in better quality with the bitrate arrowed to, and a link to the origional PDF from Samsung.

I wonder why they'd cripple the FM function, that seems to have given the FM functionality most it's practical appeal. It also stinks that the advertising when I bought it had no mention of this limitation. =\

Looks like it's back to jacking in my Casio poket radio into the Encode port if there's something I really want in decent quality. (or resort to my computer O.o )

Any thoughts on this? o.o;

Oh, and to your question on firmware. I am using 1.38 KR, the one I got off your site, which I might say is a definate step up from the origional firmware. The origional firmware was very buggy when it came to video playback and rejected files with filenames longer than something like twenty characters long; all of which don't seem to be a problem anymore.
