Idea: Extremely High USB Power Output (2 Amp+)
View all ideas for this Category

Though the USB spec originally only called for 500mA of output, many devices exceed that, especially when charging and running at the same time.

Extremely High USB (5V) Power Output of 2 or more amps allows virtually all USB devices to charge while running at their full power requirements.

It also allows such extremely high power USB ports to be used as power sources for USB hubs and multiple standard USB devices at the same time.

Note that beyond 2 Amps the rate of current can become excessive and can potentially damage unshielded USB devices. Most devices though are safe since USB is only at a low voltage of 5V DC, but one should still be cautious and ask before connecting if you're not sure if your device can handle the higher output or not. Also, some devices may limit how much power they will accept from USB and may not take as much power as the power source can provide.
