Idea: Rewind Past Start of Track and Into Previous Track
View all ideas for this Category Here are the cases when this feature, which could be described as "Rewind past start of track" or "Rewind past the beginning of the track into the previous track" can come especially in handy when listening to Podcasts, Lectures and Audiobooks:
1. If I am listening to a book that has been split up into small tracks and I realize I missed some key point at the end of the last track, in most players in order to go to that track I have to get my device out of my pocket to see what is going on once I realize I'm no longer rewinding since I reached the start of the track and rewinding further doesn't do anything. Fast forwarding though keeps progressing to the next track.
So in this case I have to go back to the last track and then manually fast forward to the last minute or two of the file and if I accidentally go too far I'm back in the next file and my Resume place has been reset and I have to start from scratch again.
Audiobooks come in sections of varying length from 1 minute or shorter tracks right up to 2 hour or longer ones. In either case, being able to rewind without having to manually select the last file and navigate to near the end of it can be time consuming and annoying.
2. In combination with the sleep timer, if I find that I left the player on and I'm not sure where I was at, I can just Rewind 30 Minutes over multiple tracks and I'll be back where I started before dozing off and I can more easily find my place without listening to events I hadn't heard/comprehended.

P.S. Just to let you know others like this feature for audiobooks too - http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=clipp lus&thread.id=257 and http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47788 and http://www.conduits.com/community/forum_posts.asp?TID=1804&PN=1&TPN=1 for example - and it has also been referred to as "FFWD/REW over file boundaries" (FFWD is already the default action in virtually all players). My old YP-55 MP3 player used to do this, rewind past the beginning of the track into the previous track, but it seems not many new players do for some reason.
